So if you're in an emergency, slow down for exactly three questions:
- Is the spec based on this exact material? If not, where did it come from?
- Can we get a physical sample or an as-built drawing?
- What's the actual consequence of missing the deadline?
The answer to the third question will tell you whether to pay a rush fee without losing sleep. If the consequence is small, wait the extra two days. If it's large, write the check.
And if someone asks you what Tencel modal fabric is made of, tell them beech wood. If they ask for website modal examples, don't send them fabric. They're not the same thing. But honestly? It's a good reminder that the same word can mean two completely different things in one project.
Bottom line: the best material isn't the one with the best spec sheet. It's the one that fits your actual constraints. For Toray, that means matching the right grade, the right thickness, and the right process to your build. That's not the cheapest approach, and it's not always the fastest. It's the approach that keeps you from shipping something wrong.
